Complejo cultural cubierto de mármol travertino, ubicado en el lado oeste de Manhattan (
1962–68), construido por un equipo de arquitectos encabezados por Wallace K. Harrison (
n. 1895–m. 1981).
Los edificios, situados alrededor de una plaza que contiene una fuente, alojan al
Metropolitan Opera, a la Ópera de la ciudad de Nueva York, a la Orquesta Filarmónica y al
New York City Ballet y a la
Juilliard School de música. El mismo Harrison diseñó el edificio del Metropolitan Opera, y
Eero Saarinen diseñó el teatro Vivian Beaumont. El teatro del estado de Nueva York, de
Philip Johnson, tiene una fachada clásica y un vestíbulo de cuatro pisos de altura. Johnson también reconstruyó el Avery Fisher Hall (donde se encuentra la Filarmónica de Nueva York), diseñado originalmente por Max Abramovitz, para corregir la acústica y mejorar los espacios del vestíbulo.
